We are so, sooo happy about the update we’ve heard from  Devon Still regarding his four-year-old daughter  Leah ‘s on-going battle with (a rare) pediatric cancer (also called “neuroblastoma”). Via his personal Instagram account , Still shared that Leah’s latest prognosis revealed her to be almost cancer-free! OWN Oprah and OWN are determined to dominate the ratings this year. Now that the network has pinpointed exactly what it is viewers want to see, they’re on a roll. This September the network is sticking to the formula and reuniting with Jay Williams. For those who don’t remember, Williams is the man with 34 children by 17 different women . Iyanla sat down with him and several mothers of his children for one of her “Fix My Life” shows. According to Variety , this time around Jay, of Atlanta, will have his own show where he will try to mend the relationships with his family, children and mothers of his children. Iyanla will be helping to guide him along the way. While Jay certainly needs to “do the work,” to borrow a phrase from Iyanla, I do wonder if all of this fame and recognition is going to his head. Reports Vlad: During the “Empire” season finale, an ad for “Power” ran that included the tagline “Empires are built on Power,” a not-so-subtle reference to the show that pretty much everyone who saw the commercial caught. The success of  Empire  had so many people coming out of the woodworks, trying to claim a spot in their pot. First, it was 50 Cent who said the show was a rip-off of his Starz show ,  Power. Then, Mo’Nique, said she was supposed to play Cookie , and Joseline Hernandez thinks the character was based off her . Now, Fox is going to be embroiled in a lawsuit over the show’s name. According to The Hollywood Reporter , Fox filed a trademark lawsuit to prove that they can use ‘Empire” despite the fact that a music distribution company, Empire Distribution, is asking for $5 million plus casting in the show for their artists because they share the same name. The LOC identifies recordings that are “ culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant ” and were released a minimum of 10 years prior to the selection year, and adds them to the growing collection of recordings that includes entries by Isaac Hayes (“Theme from Shaft”), Zora Neale Hurston (Hurston’s interview from 1943 on Mary Margaret McBride’s radio program), and James Brown ( James Brown Live at the Apollo ). Hill’s album joins Sly and the Family Stone’s Stand!, Joan Baez’s 1960 self-titled debut, Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate , and Radiohead’s OK Computer among the entries selected for inclusion in the registry.
