Meek Mill Set For 2 Years In Jail

Image
Looks like Meek Mill ain't winning this time. The Philly rapper has reportedly been ordered to appear in court on Monday (Nov. 6) due to a number of probation violations pertaining to his previous drug and weapons case, TMZ reports. The problem is, Meek’s latest indiscretions could ensure him at least two years in the slammer. Meek’s probation stems from a 2008 drug and gun conviction, which he originally served eight months for. His freedom was most recently put in jeopardy when he was arrested for recklessly driving a dirt bike around New York City in Aug. 2017. Shortly before that, in Mar. 2017, he was taken into custody for fighting at a St. Louis airport.  Unfortunately for the  Dreams and Nightmares artist, this isn’t the first time he’s disobeyed the terms of his probation. In 2015, Meek skipped town to perform at a concert in Pennsylvania without alerting his probation officer. The stunt resulted in a 90-day house arrest and his probation was extende...

Ava DuVernay: Hollywood 'intentionally' chooses not to hire black actors

Image
Ava DuVernay thinks Hollywood "intentionally" choose not to hire black actors or filmmakers. The 'Selma' director believes the film industry is putting "effort" into excluding men and women of colour from having their own chance at fame and fortune. She said: "I would say that it's quite intentional. You're basically saying, 'This is what we want, and this is what we're going to have.' There's no way you can tell me that there hasn't been effort put into exclusion." DuVernay set up her own organisation, Array Now, back in 2010, where she funds a number of movies by minority directors. She added: "I wanted to make films about the interiority of women of colour, people of colour, and I knew there wasn't a large market out in the studio system for those kinds of films, so I decided to just distribute on my own. "It started as a function of survival. I just finance it from my directing money an...

Kelis Rogers  ( / k ə . ˈ l iː s / ; born August 21, 1979), better known  mononymously  as  Kelis , is an American singer, songwriter and chef. Kelis achieved moderate international success with her 1999 debut album,  Kaleidoscope , but left her label  Virgin Records  after its follow-up,  Wanderland  (2001), received little sales attention and no U.S. release. Her third album, 2003's  Tasty , earned the singer commercial prominence and produced the hit single " Milkshake ", her most well-known song.  Kelis Was Here  (2006), her fourth album, was the subject of further label disputes and she took a hiatus from music after its release, during which she trained at  Le Cordon Bleu  culinary school. She released the album  Flesh Tone  in 2010 and her sixth,  Food , under  Ninja Tune Records  in 2014. Kelis has been recognised at the  Brit Awards ,  Q Awards ,  NME Awar...
