B-13 Peer Review:A Review of Jimi Hendrix- Valleys Of Neptune Released in 2010

Image
More than 40-years have passed since the death of Jimi Hendrix and many posthumous albums have been released during this time, including most recently 2010's  Valleys of Neptune ,  a set culled from Jimi's final recordings with the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It doesn't come as much of a surprise that the Hendrix estate has come up with yet another album's worth of material to release but it is somewhat startling how good  People, Hell and Angels  is. None of the dozen included tracks have been released before although Hendrix aficionados may be familiar with some of the songs in drastically different versions. After Jimi wrapped things up with the Experience he wanted to branch out a little and enhance his sound by working outside his usual power trio format so here you have impressive cuts like "Izabella," one of Jimi's concise, radio-ready rockers where he's backed by familiar sidemen Billy Cox and Mitch Mitchell as well as second guitarist Lar...

Teen 'Jeopardy!' contestant gives the best Final Jeopardy! answer ever [Video]

Image
With his towering afro and (ahem) informal attire, teen contestant Leonard Cooper didn't look the part of a "Jeopardy!" champion. But he parlayed one big Daily Double gamble into a Teen Tournament win last night, topping it off with what has to be considered the best Final Jeopardy! answer of all time.* Leonard came into Final Jeopardy! with a total of $37,000 -- an impressive sum, though not enough to win outright. But that didn't stop Leonard from calling his shot. Faced with the clue, "On June 6, 1944, he said, 'The eyes of the world are upon you,'" Leonard wagered $0 and responded: "Who is some guy in Normandy, but I just won $75,000!" Keep in mind, one of Leonard's opponents had enough cash to surpass him if he answered correctly. But he didn't, and Leonard walked off with the win and the $75K awarded to the Teen Tournament champion. Even the normally stoic Alex Trebek was delighted by Leonard's confidence, giggling...

K&K had taken a flight from Brazil to JFK on Tuesday, where the plan was to catch a connecting flight to Los Angeles.   But once they landed in NY, the couple met up with an airline greeter ... who, according to the TSA, allowed them to bypass a key security checkpoint to get them to their next flight as quickly as possible.  After Kim and Kanye took their seats on the L.A.-bound plane ... a TSA agent yanked them off the flight ... and made K&K go through another layer of security.  We're told the plane was delayed for roughly an hour while the couple was screened by TSA agents.  Now, the TSA tells us it wasn't Kim and Kanye's fault ...explaining, "An airline employee escorted the two travelers through a non-public area in order ...

DMX ARRESTED Driving Without a License

Image
DMX  should know if he,  of all people , drives a car without a driver's license ... he's going to end up in handcuffs -- and that's exactly what happened this morning in South Carolina.  The rapper was handcuffed and taken to Spartanburg Detention Center around 2AM ... after an officer saw him driving a 1978 Buick (sweet) and pulled him over for allegedly driving without a license. DMX spoke to the local FOX station as he left the police station and said, "No, I didn't have a license ... put the cuffs on me. Brought me here. I paid the money. Basically, just 5 hours wasted for nothing." And there's this DMX bonus -- his 5-month-old daughter was in the back seat during the whole incident.
