Battle of the music moguls: Simon Cowell furious at Will.i.am's The Voice being broadcast in same slot as BGT

Simon Cowell has returned to Britain's Got Talent with a bang.

The veteran judge has not only made a few changes to freshen up the show, but he has also vowed to beat the BBC.

But the 52-year-old is reportedly seething after finding out that the Beeb are going to broadcast their new talent show, The Voice, at the same time as Britain's Got Talent.

An angry Simon told The People: 'It is 100 per cent a declaration of war.
'They have gone head-to-head with us - it's their decision. We'll make it a competition.'

The maneuver from the BBC will reignite the feud that began when ITV1's X Factor and BBC's Strictly Come Dancing were pitted against each other last year after the Beeb moved the time slot of their popular show.

Cowell branded them 'childish and pathetic' at the time but retaliated by luring Alesha Dixon from the channel to sit on the judging panel of BGT with him.
He said that the BBC had become too cocky and and if they want to compete, he will do something about it.
Simon has upped the prize money on BGT from £100,000 to £500,000 and brought in new judges Alesha Dixon and David Walliams.

He said: 'I love originality, I love great singers, I love great comedians. I love things I’ve never seen before. I’d love to find a great magician, I’d like to find the next ‘N Sync or the next Backstreet Boys or Justin Bieber.'

The judges on The Voice have also been at war with Jessie J and Will.i.am having had their first spat already.

The two star judges, who are joined by Tom Jones and The Script front man Danny O'Donoghue, were arguing over who would mentor a contestant when the Black Eyed Peas star questioned Jessie's experience.

He said: 'Jessie is hot right now, she is current, but that’s right now.

'I remember the first time when we as a band had success – then the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth time. Come with me and we’ll try to make your career.'
Jessie hit back and said: 'I am number one. I’ve been doing this for years and working my ass off. I may be only 23 and have only had a debut album but I’m signed for seven years, yeah, thank you very much. In your face!'
