Will Smith's son Jaden Smith asks Obama about aliens -- and president was ready

His son disregards 'Men in Black 3" star's advice, but Obama was ready to talk

Will Smith tried to stop his son, Jaden, from asking President Obama about aliens, to no avail. 

Jaden Smith and President Obama seem to be on the same wavelength when it comes to talking about extraterrestrials.

The actor Will Smith says his 13-year-old son insisted on asking the commander in chief about aliens during a visit to the White House— even after the "Men in Black" star told him not to. And the President was ready for the question even before Jaden asked it.

Smith said his son told him the night before the visit that “I gotta ask the president about the aliens, and I was like, 'Dude, no, no, it's not cool. No, it's not cool. It's embarrassing," Smith told BBC Radio this week. "I was like, 'Jaden, do not ask the president.'"

Still, Jaden disregarded his dad's plea and interrupted the president during a tour of the West Wing the following day.

"Barack is talkin' about the Situation Room and Jaden says, 'Excuse me, Mr. President,'" Smith recalled.

"Barack said, 'Don't tell me," and in perfect form -- like this is why he's the president -- he stopped and looked at Jaden and said, 'The aliens, right?'"

The Pesident was ready to dish — but only so much.

"'OK, I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of extra-terrestrials," Smith quoted the president as saying, "but I can tell you if there had been a top-secret meeting and if there would have had to have been a discussion about it, it would have taken place in this room.'"

The Fresh Prince jested that Jaden has about eight or nine months left of being grounded.

The elder Smith reprises his role as Agent J in "Men In Black 3," which is set to open in U.S. theaters on May 25.
