Trey Songz & R. Kelly Settle Differences, Willing to Work Together

Back in 2009, Trey Songz made a diss track aimed at R. Kelly titled (D.O.K.) Death Of Kellz, because R. Kelly had used Auto-Tune to modify his voice.  Since then the two have not seen eye to eye, and Kelly responded to the diss by brushing it off as if getting into a beef with Trey Songz was a waste of his time.

"I don't get into the challenges anymore.  What is an elephant gonna do when an ant or a fly lands on them?" he said. "Those guys got some growing up to do. That's something I would have answered twenty years ago."

The R&B veteran recently made a public statement to MTV that Trey Songz is one of his favorite artists presently.  He spoke about how R&B artists should not waste their time getting into conflicts with one another, but rather work together to further enhance their music and strengthen the musical genre of R&B in general.  

"What is an elephant gonna do when an ant or a fly lands on them?  Those guys got some growing up to do. That's something I would have answered twenty years ago.  Stay true and respectful to music and to the ones that inspired you to do what you do. I think that's going to be the key to having longevity and it's also going to be the key to keeping R&B alive.  You don't want R&B singers to get into beef.  Leave that to the rappers, let them do that — R&B, be classy. That's for the ladies and having babies and having fun."

After Trey heard the praise given to him by R. Kelly, he too responded in a very positive manner to MTV, stating that Kelly is one of his idols and that he would love to work with him.

"I love R. Kelly.  He recently said that he would love to work with me, said that he's a fan of mine and that's very special to me. I can't really explain how much that means to me. He's been an influencer and an idol for me for a long time.  We had our differences and right now we're in a great place.  No matter how well I do, [R. Kelly] is the king forever in my eyes."
