The first single from the EP is "So Slow" featuring King Chip.
Blended Babies, a Los Angeles-based group, executively produced the project. The group has worked with Roth and Sir Michael Rocks. .Paak appeared on six tracks on Dr. Dre's Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre.
Aftermath A&R coordinator Drew Corria told HipHopDX how he introduced Dr. Dre and A&R Ty Cannon to the singer through the song "Suede" by NxWorries, which is made up of .Paak and producer Knxwledge.
"Everybody was really digging it," he says. "Brought him in, started working on music together."
Corria also says that the Compton track "Animals," produced by DJ Premier, was originally .Paak's song.
"We go in the studio, played it and at first, Dre was like, 'Yo, I wanna get on this for you,'" he says. "It kinda slowly turned into, 'Yo, can I have this for the album?' Once they kinda finished the record, Premier came out. They worked on it. It was just a crazy experience."
