Boy Better Know's Solo 45 Charged With 29 Counts Of Rape
Police say they've charged the grime emcee with 29 counts of rape.
Earlier in the year, Andy Anokye, better known as emcee Solo 45 from Skepta's Boy Better Know crew, was hit with several charges. Among them were two counts of rape, one count of false imprisonment and one causing bodily harm. However, police have now hit him with another 27 counts of rape after three people came forward with allegations against the rapper. The rapper was in court earlier and pleaded not guilty to the previous charges at Bristol Crown Court. Now, he'll be standing trial next year. The court has set the date for his appearance on April 16th, 2018.
Solo 45 has been a rising member out of the Boy Better Know camp. His career really broke through a few years back with his single "Feed Em To The Lions." Since then, he's been working with some of the most revered emcee's in the grime scene. He's worked with grime veterans in the past and collaborated with Stormzy on "5ive" a few months back. The emcee has also joined his Boy Better Know crew for Culture Clash in the past. In the midst of these allegations, it's hard to dictate if his music career will last longer if he is convicted. Many people on Twitter have already chimed in on the accusations.
Skepta has yet to make any sort of comment on the situation. However, his brother and co-founder of Boy Better Know, JME, has hit Twitter to speak on it. He initially said that he didn't want to address the scenario until a verdict was reached but he says he was in shock over the news.
"I didn’t want to speak until the case was over, and verdict reached. As I have no idea what the intricacies are, who the victims are etc…," he continued, "Everyone saying “people are being silent” it’s because they are waiting for a verdict before passing judgement. The charges are crazy."
Many followers of the grime scene have been critical that nobody's spoken about the topic. JME continued his series of tweets by saying "Some people will speak up immediately as news hits, some will wait for a verdict. Thats why I think “the scene” has been quiet on the issue."
We'll be updating you on any information we receive in the future.
