Times may be tough, but that won’t stop some “sneakerheads” from shelling out as much as $80,000 to wear the same shoes as Kanye West does.

Nike’s latest sneaker, the Air Yeezy 2, lands Saturday in stores around the world. Devotees are desperate to get their hands on the shoes designed by the hip-hop star himself.

By Wednesday afternoon, three days before the release day, pre-order prices on eBay were as high as $80,700 — the going rate for a new Lexus.

Dozens of other bids for the sneakers were in the $3,000-$5,000 range.

The Air Yeezy 2 will officially retail for $245. People are already camping outside shoe boutiques, hoping to score a pair of the limited edition kicks, which Kanye has already been wearing for several months, TMZ reported.

According to dresslikekanyewest.com, some retail stores will hold raffles for online customers.

The Air Yeezy 2 is the second installment of the 2009 Air Yeezy. It’s slimmer than the original, because it was designed to fit Kanye’s narrow foot.

The design was inspired by the classic 1980s basketball shoes, according to Nike’s website. The shoes are available in two colors: platinum and black.
