The newest acquisition to the Maybach Music Group (MMG) roster, Rockie Fresh, has been traveling the country recently on his first headlining tour, “The Electric HighWay.” After having released his highly successful mixtape, Driving 88, things have accelerated for the up-and-comer out of Chicago, who asks others to “pray” for his city that is currently in the heat of controversy and violence.
Rockie Fresh took a moment to speak with AllHipHop.com during his tour stop in Miami recently about his new deal with MMG, and how much hospitality even the parent label, Warner Bros., has shown.
“Signing with Ross was crazy; it was a blessing,” Rockie Fresh told AllHipHop.com. “We’re going to make history. It’s a major platform having that major label support from Warner and Maybach Music Group. They’ve been holding me down even in the really early stages. It’s better resources; I can finally build my sound quality. We ’bout to turn up.”

Rockie Fresh says he is here to lead by example. A big fan of Alternative Rock, he sampled Coldplay on his recent release. “I like Alternative Rock more than I listen to other stuff,” said Rockie. “That record inspired me – “Square One” – so I sampled it. I’m going to keep sampling stuff like that, too, ’cause it really inspires. I wanna put some rap fans onto some sh*t they didn’t know about.”
