Diana Ross strikes back after being disrespected at Beverly Hills Restaurant
B-13 PEER REVIEW WHERE YOU HEAR IT FIRST
Never one to shy away from dramatics, former Supremes headliner Diana Ross caused a scene in a Beverly Hills restaurant last Thursday after she was told she would have to wait to be seated.
Ross arrived at upscale Italian eatery La Scala to have lunch with her daughter when she was told the restaurant does not seat anyone without a reservation until the entire party has arrived. Because Ross showed up ahead of her daughter, she was asked to wait. She declined and marched on to a corner booth anyway, according to the New York Post.
The Post reports that management walked over to discuss the restaurant's seating policies with the singer, telling Ms. Ross that she would not be served if she didn't wait for her daughter to arrive. Naturally, Ms. Ross refused to move and a scene ensued once her daughter did show up, with both women eventually storming out of the restaurant.
“I’m sorry that Ms. Ross had a problem with that and she feels that the rules didn’t apply to her," La Scala owner Gigi Leon told the Post. "Our policy is that we don’t sit incomplete parties. If people jump the line, our policy is we don’t serve them, and she was told that. We treat everyone the same, whether you’re famous or not. We love having her as a customer. We’d be happy to have her back.”
B-13,
After reading this story I am perplexed, confused, disheartened, dismayed and convinced that this generation has lost the charm, charisma, character, style, respect, and grace of yesterday. This generation is the most hypocritical of them all. We have walked away from tradition, walked away from GOD, walked away from values, benevolence, respect, morals, and principles bestowing them on those whom we deem worthy. The relationship between customer and client has been politicized in an era were we call for equality, justice, solidarity, and civil order regardless of race, color, or creed.
Ms. Ross is an extraordinary woman that lived an extraordinary life... to have her as a customer should be an honor. She is not just some average Jane from off the street; and should not be treated in such a way. I am not speaking of her celebrity alone, moreover; I must say that Ms Ross looks extraordinarily beautiful and young for her age; however, Ms. Ross is a woman of age and a degree of respect is in order.
The Management (GiGi Leon) at La Scala restaurant in Beverly Hills should be ashamed of himself/ herself. It seems to me that GiGi had a power trip going on here. This restaurant is well known to cater to celebrities and its policies should reflect that. The fact that Ms Ross had to seat herself should have been triggered humility for GiGi. I am sure GiGi has the discretion to enact policy were it is actually needed. The fact that a table was ready and available begs me to question why Ms Ross had to wait for her party to show before being seated?
All celebrities should boycott this joint in solidarity to support Ms. Ross and maybe they will get there sh*t together. I tell you I will not be eating there; probably because I can't afford it, but that is besides the point. I will do my own little private boycott in support of Ms. Ross and in objection to the use of this policy.
What do you think?
