Michael B. Jordan Responds To His Human Torch Critics

Michael B. Jordan has an awesome, yet legit answer to purists outraged by him playing the Human Torch in Fox’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot.

In case you didn’t know, although considering the Internet uproar that followed was pretty big, Michael B. Jordan has been cast as Johhny Storm, aka The Human Torch in Fox’s reboot of the Fantastic Four movie franchise. Some treated the news with indifference, others shuddered when they remembered the pretty awful Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, while some took to the Internet to complain about casting a black actor in the role of a white Human Torch.

Well, what do you think Michael B. Jordan’s reaction was? Check out the short clip below from TMZ to find out, but I must say that it’s the only normal reaction to all the hate.

Yup, they’ll see it anyway. If you really think about it, Michael B. Jordan’s right. Fans of Marvel’s First Family will go see it, while the haters will go see it just to prove they’re right and this was a bad casting decision on Fox’s part. Hell, they’ll wait in line at the opening just so they could blab to the other haters what a crappy movie it was.

Speaking of crappy, let’s not forget that comic fans tend to let these “bad casting choices” when the movie turns out to be good. Does anyone remember the backlash generated by casting Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Knight? How did that turn out?

Personally, what worries me is not the color of Johnny Storm’s skin, but the fact, considering the fact thatKate Mara, the actress that might be playing his sister, The Invisible Woman, happens to be white, there is a possibility that the two might not be siblings anymore. It’s a prospect that doesn’t sit well with me, considering what Fox has done with Galactus for the Fantastic Four sequel.
So, what are your thoughts? Will you go see it, regardless who’ll be in it?
