Hope from the Ashes: The Holocaust Diary of Rywka Lipszyc (Rivka Lipschitz)

Auditions will be via video submission, with callbacks in-person in Berkeley or San Francisco in February.

(For the roles of RIVKA, CIPKA, ESTHER, MINA, CHANA, and LITTLE YUSSEL)

 No experience required, but ability to take direction is a must. Familiarity with Polish, Yiddish, or Hebrew would be a plus, as would be a willingness to have one’s hair cut to a short length on-camera.

(For the roles of the NAZI GUARDS and the DOCTOR)

Holocaust Film seeks local talent

PRODUCER:
Producer and director has multiple credits and honors, including a Sundance Film Festival documentary, a New York Times Critic pick, and a San Francisco Independent Film Festival Jury Prize. The filmmaker has previously worked with child and teen actors, and has instructed youth in a summer film camp, with their film winning the Best Youth Film Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival.

PAY/PERKS:
All actors cast in the film will be credited, fed, and paid. Talent will also receive a DVD of the finished film as well as access to an online streaming version of it and a high-resolution copy of their scenes (for their reel). We will provide meals and snacks on set, and will pay a modest day rate of $200.
