B-13 PEER REVIEW: 12 CELEBRITY NET WORTHS…

A lot of times, celebrities turn into household names.
We add them in our day to day conversations and even have inside jokes about them.
We often group all celebrities together, associating the glitz and glamour of Hollywood and stardom with loads and loads of wealth.
Although sometimes that may be true, other times, it couldn’t be more wrong.
Here are 12 of the most shocking celebrity net worths:

1. CHRIS TUCKER

ats33-5
Chris Tucker’s net worth is a depressing -$11.5 million. Yes, that’s right, NEGATIVE $11.5 million. Although he appeared in many hit movies like Friday, and the Rush Hour franchise, Chris has somehow managed to get himself into debt.
Chris was paid $20 million to do Rush Hour 2, and for Rush Hour 3, he received not only $25 million but 20% of the movie’s gross receipts, which made him the highest paid actor in the world at that time.
Despite all that success, he reportedly owes the IRS $11 million for taxes due in the early 2000’s and has publicly stated that he does not have enough money to pay his own bills, including a $4.4 million mortgage on a home in Florida.

2. 50 CENT

50 Cent’s net worth is $15 million. So much for being bankrupt!
50 filed for bankruptcy earlier this year after being sued for $5 million over a sex tape that he allegedly leaked without permission. He claimed that he owed as much money as he had and filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.
But his net worth is a lot lower than most would have guessed because he made a fortune when Vitamin Water was purchased by Coca Cola. 50 held a 2.5% stake in the company and when the company was sold for over $4 billion, he made a cool $150 million from the deal. Where did all that money go? Our guess is booze, cars and can’t forget the hoes.ats33-11
3. MIKE TYSON
Mike Tyson was able to salvage his net worth back to $1 million after filing for bankruptcy back in 2003.
In the late 90’s, Mike Tyson ruled the world. After a 3 year stint in prison, he was able to get back into the ring and earn over $30 million guaranteed per fight. His net worth at its peak was over $300 million.
How did he squander all that money away? A pair of bengal tigers for $70,000 each, that cost $8,000 a month to feed, $2,000 a month for insurance and $10,000 a month for a trainer to take care of. It also didn’t help that he was sued by a jeweler for owing over $800,000 for unpaid jewelry.ats33-10

4. LINDSAY LOHAN

Lindsay Lohan’s net worth is $500,000. Her problems have been well documented in the media and her net worth would be a lot less if she didn’t have some really generous friends.
Her bank account was seized by the IRS at the end of 2012 because she owed $233,000 in back taxes. Charlie Sheen reportedly wrote her a $100,000 check to pay her debts. And then in 2013, Oprah, decided to lend a hand while promoting her own network at the same time. She paid Lindsay $2 million to film several in-depth interviews to be aired on the Oprah Winfrey Network, without that, Lindsay would most certainly still be in debt.

5. OPRAH WINFREY

Oprah Winfrey’s net worth is a monstrous $2.9 billion. Mentioned in this article already, Oprah is one of the most successful media moguls ever.

6. LENA HEADEY

Lena Headey’s net worth is $1.5 million. Although that number isn’t necessarily shocking, it is when you hear how much she was worth 2 years ago.
You probably know her best as Queen Cersei Lannister on the hit HBO series, Game of Thrones, which started in 2011. But what you probably didn’t know is that in 2013, she had reportedly only $5 in her bank account. Yes.. FIVE dollars. It was due to a very tumultuous divorce battle and despite making $150,000 per episode for Game of Thrones, she was nearly broke.
She has since been doing a lot better obviously with her $1.5 million net worth, but no one would have guessed she only had $5 in her bank account after 2 years of starring on one of the most popular shows on TV.

7. JERRY SEINFELD

Jerry Seinfeld’s net worth is a whopping $800 million. Whether you wanted to or not, you’ve definitely seen his face on your television set at one time or another. His hit sitcom, Seinfeld, is constantly being played on multiple networks.
After 10 years of being on the air, the sitcom has since been syndicated and is responsible for most of Seinfeld’s wealth. He reportedly turned down $5 million an episode to do another season of Seinfeld. You can currently watch him on his hit web series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

8. MEKHI PHIFER

Mekhi Phifer’s net worth is a staggering -$1.3 million. He is probably best known for his role as “Future” in Eminem’s box office hit, 8 Mile.
According to IMDB, Mekhi has been credited on 48 projects, including 135 episodes of the hit TV series, E.R., and the feature films I Know What You Did Last Summer, Soul Food, Paid In Full and most recently, Divergent.
But in mid 2014, he filed for bankruptcy protection, stating that he had $67,000 in assets with $1.3 million in debt, much of which is from taxes owed to the IRS.

9. NICHOLAS CAGE

Nicholas Cage’s net worth is only $25 million. He has appeared in over 70 films and was once one of the highest paid actors in the world making over $40 million a year.
He earned $16 million for the movie Snake Eyes and earned $20 million EACH for Gone in Sixty Seconds, Windtalkers and National Treasure, just to name a few. Yet his net worth is only a measly $25 million.
It is 100% due to Cage’s outrageous spending habits. Other than the 15 mansions, 4 luxury yachts, private island, and $30 million private jet, he also has spent money on things like 2 extremely rare albino cobras and a 67 million year old dinosaur skull… Here’s to hoping that he is able to put out another 4 mediocre movies next year to sustain his crazy spending habits!

10. DR. PHIL

Dr. Phil is worth a whopping $280 million. That is more than the net worths of Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney.
He has Oprah Winfrey to thank for most of his net worth. His company, Courtroom Sciences, Inc., was hired by The Oprah Winfrey Show which led to his numerous guest appearances. The national recognition he gained from being on her show led him to star on his own talk show, aptly titled, Dr. Phil.
He reportedly is making roughly $80 million per year from the show and his other ventures.

11. BILL COSBY

Bill Cosby’s net worth is an astonishing $400 million! We all know him from “The Cosby Show” but there is no way a sitcom from the 80’s amassed all $400 million for him.
It is regarded as one of the most successful sitcoms of all time, running from 1984 to 1992. He still makes royalties on reruns being shown on TV over and over again. He has also won 9 Grammy awards for his comedy albums and starred in other successful TV shows, winning 7 Emmy’s and 2 Golden Globes. But where he made the bulk of his fortune was from endorsement deals from corporate giants like Coca Cola, Ford, Kodak, and of course, J-E-L-L-O pudding.
Cosby is going through legal issues with over 40 women coming forward and accusing him of sexual assault. Many of them happened a long time ago and therefore cannot be enforced by law, but a few are still within the statute of limitations and charges have been brought against him. At least he will be able afford to pay the legal fees..

12. FLOYD MAYWEATHER

Floyd “Money” Mayweather definitely lives up to his nickname as his net worth is an astonishing $400 million. What is even more insane is that he earned a ridiculous $250 million off his fight with Manny Pacquiao earlier this year in May. That is A QUARTER OF A BILLION DOLLARS for ONE fight!
Last year, in Forbes annual list of highest paid athletes, Mayweather was the number 1 earner by a longshot with $300 million. He demolished the previous record for highest salary of an athlete which was held by Tiger Woods who earned $115 million back in 2008.
Although Mayweather has told the media he is set to retire, he has definitely left his mark on boxing. With a 49-0 record, 6 different championship titles and career earnings of just under $700 million, he can safely say that he has conquered not only the boxing world, but life in general.
How long that $400 million will last is still yet to be seen. After all, Mike Tyson did have $300 million once…
