Trey Songz 'Heart Attack': Singer Is an Emotional Wreck on New Song
Singer Trey Songz debuts the first single off his forthcoming Chapter V LP and he's wearing his heart on his sleeve. "Heart Attack," produced by Benny Blanco and Rico Love, finds the Virginia native crooning about a love that is hurting his soul.
When the track commences, a listener may think they're about to be swept into an electronic frenzy but then pulsing drums and Songz' soulful cooing brings the record back to R&B.
"We shared something so common, still so rare/ And I'm in awe, never been here before/ So high, we're still climbing, even here inside these walls/ Breaking each others ' hearts/ And we don't care 'cause we're so in too deep/ Can't think about giving it up/ But I never knew love would feel like a heart attack," he belts out.
He continues to admit this love is the worst pain he's ever had and even sheds tears over it.
Earlier this year, Trey Songz spoke to The BoomBox about what's to come on Chapter V, due in the coming months.
"Chapter V is basically an album that represents my past, present and future, musically," he shared. "So what that basically means is you'll have what you know me for -- the classic R&B records from 'Can't be Friends,' 'Love Faces' to 'Can't Help but Wait,' the records that represent those sounds. [I] go to a new space that people might not be familiar with.
" Songs will also feature production from Troy Taylor and his younger brother A-Wall Neverson.
