Lee Daniels reacts to Empire Emmy snub: ‘Fu** these motherfu**ers’
Lee Daniels, creator of the hit show Empire, is not at all pleased with the fact that Empire was snubbed for nominations in the Outstanding Drama category of the Emmy Awards.
In an interview with Empire star Jussie Smollett that was put up in a video on Instagram, Daniels led with, “Jussie is saying I have to be politically correct on Instagram or I’m going to get in trouble.”
“You have to be nice!” Smollett said.
But Daniels was done being nice, and he let the Academy know it. “F— those motherf—ers!” he said in his message to Emmy voters.
Later he posted an Instagram video apologizing, saying that he loves the Emmys.
This year’s Emmy Awards snubbed the show for its overall series and seemed to ignore its original music, but they did get one nomination: Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Tarji P. Henson’s portrayal of Cookie Lyon.
