The short synopsis:
Forbidden’ is a modern day Romeo and Juliet tale centered around a Sikh American woman Jasleen Sidhu and a Persian American man Fahwaz Tehrani. The protagonist Jasleen is from a traditionally minded Sikh family that became prosperous after migrating to North America. Her culture and religion conscious parents want her to marry within the Sikh community, and are shocked when she disappears the day of her engagement to an arranged match. After Jasleen and Fahwaz elope, they think they’ve found happiness — but Jasleen’s family tracks the couple down and commits horrific acts in defense of their family honor.

Forbidden will create awareness by reiterating the fact that the act of ‘honour killing’ is not one of dishonor and immorality, but of disobedience and control. It is a heinous crime against humanity and is in fact against anything and everything that is deemed as holy.
