B-13 Peer Review's Moment in Black History Ruby Bridges Hall In November 1960, six-year-old Ruby Bridges Hall became the first African American child to desegregate an elementary school. Although she only lived a few blocks from the William Frantz Elementary school in New Orleans, Louisiana. Marshals had to escort Ruby because of angry segregationist mobs that gathered in front of the school. For an entire year, she was the only student in her class since white parents pulled their children from the school in protest. She wrote about her experiences in her book THROUGH MY EYES. Jamaican dancehall star Elephant Man was arrested yesterday (January 31st) on sexual offense charges, including grievous sexual assault and rape. According to Go-Jamaica , Elephant Man, whose real name is Oneil Bryan, reportedly sexually assaulted a woman at his St. Andrew home earlier in January. Police detectives put the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse on the case, leading to his arrest. Elephant Man was questioned in the presence of his attorney and was then slapped with the charges. He is scheduled to appear in court today. Don Cornelius, “Soul Train,” creator dead at age 75  By David Malitz Updated at 11:55 a.m. “Soul Train” creator Don Cornelius was found dead in his Los Angeles home early Wednesday morning. He was pronounced dead after the Los Angeles Fire Department transferred him to a nearby hospital, Officer Sara Faden of the Los Angeles Police Department told The Washington Post. Cornelius was 75. The 24-year-old rapper was handcuffed around 2p.m. on Saturday in his hometown, Bronx, New York where he is now being held. "It was definitely an illegal search," Peter revealed. Gunz was unable to disclose full details on the incident just yet, but he explained the events leading up to his son's arrest.
