Serena Williams, "I Win"

Image
By Dave Bry @ 10:00 am Recording a rap song is like making a sex tape now. Like, even if you're doing it just for fun, you probably shouldn't, because it could get on to the internet. I feel a little guilty posting this, because its unclear whether or not it was ever intended for official release. But it's not that big a deal, I guess. So, would you look to listen to Serena Williams's rap song ? The song, which is mercifully short, doesn't yet have an actual title. But I'll bet "I Win" is what she had in mind.

Three Stacks is Back! Andre 3000 Set to Play Jimi Hendrix in Biopic

Image
May 8th, 2012 - By Brande Victorian   Andre 3000 may not be releasing music of his own anytime soon but we’ll still get to witness his creative genius in action as he prepares to take on the lead role in a biopic based on the life of famed electric guitarist Jimi Hendrix. “All Is by My Side” will be set during Jimi Hendrix’s time in England between 1966 and 1967, as he began work on his debut project, Are You Experienced, which is widely regarded by critics to feature some of the greatest guitar music ever created. The feature film will be written and directed by John Ridley, who wrote the screenplays for “Red Tails” and “U-Turn,” and I predict excellence. Though I can totally see Andre as Jimi, critics are a tad skeptical. MTV News senior writer Gil Kaufman wrote : “Considering his just-passable acting in ‘Idlewild,’ the jury’s still out on whether Andre can carry a movie on his

B-13 Peer Review- Business Flashback: From BET to hotels to banking, Bob Johnson keeps moving forward

Image
By Barbara Hagenbaugh and Sue Kirchhoff, USA TODAY BETHESDA, Md. — BET founder Robert Louis Johnson is calling the next phase of his career his "second act." If it's anything like the first, it'll be worth tuning in. Johnson, who became the nation's first African-American billionaire when he sold the BET media empire for $3 billion to media giant Viacom in 2000, has made a number of big purchases in the past few years, seeking out areas of the economy that have largely been untapped by African-Americans. He's now the biggest black hotelier in the country. He's started hedge and private equity funds to invest in businesses and to provide investment vehicles for pension funds and others. And in 2002 he became the first African-American to wholly own a professional sports team when he bought the NBA franchise in Charlotte. Johnson, who left BET in January and now owns RLJ Cos., announced last month that he is starting a b
