The real reason Will Smith turned down 'Django Unchained'

Image
Will Smith  has revealed that he turned down  Quentin Tarantino ‘s  Django Unchained  because he felt he was not being offered the lead role. Smith was thought to be in the running for Tarantino’s Oscar-winning ode to the spaghetti western way before production began. Ultimately,  Jamie Foxx ended up in the role of Django and many might have presumed that Smith could have been uncomfortable with the movie’s combination of anti-slavery friction and bloody violence. Talking to  Entertainment Weekly , however, Smith has revealed he simply felt the part of dentist-turned-bounty hunter Dr King Schultz ( Christoph Waltz ) was the real lead. Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead… The other character was the lead! I was like, ‘No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!’ It’s worth noting that while Waltz did win an Oscar for his portrayal of Dr. Schultz, it was a Best Supporting Actor award, so we’re not sure why Smith had his panties in a bunch over

Radio Station Pulls Rick Ross and Lil Wayne from Rotation

The questions have been asked, Is Hip Hop Music Destroying America, Is Hip Hop A Threat To Our Children or Should Rappers Be Accountable For Their Lyrics? You be the judge.  Earlier this year the song “Karate Chop” leaked online featuring rapper Lil Wayne.  He raps, “Bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels/Beat that (expletive/woman genital) up like Emmett Till.”  A few weeks later a song by rapper Rocko featuring Rick Ross was release called “You Don’t Even Know It.”  Rick Ross raps, “Put molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it/ I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it.” Yes, we have our freedom of speech right, but when is freedom of speech taken too far? Many would say both rappers have taken their lyrical content too far and offended too many.  The family and estate of Emit Till have released a statement of disapproval over Lil Wayne’s disregard and disrespectful lyrics. Though his record label issued a statement of apology, the rapper has yet t

‘Aunt Viv’ To Wendy Williams: You Are A Demon!

Image
Janet Hubert  did not respond nicely to  Wendy Williams ‘ questioning of  Tatiana Ali  during a recent taping of her daytime talk show. Ali stopped by “The Wendy Williams Show” earlier this week and discussed a few small-talk topics like Drake and one-night stands. But, Williams got serious when she asked Ali why Hubert was replaced by the  Daphne Reid  to play “Aunt Vivian” On the “ Fresh Prince of Bel Air ” after three seasons. Ali said that she was a young child and in class whenever she was not on set, so she really did not know the details behind why Hubert was given the axe. She did admit there was “negativity” between Smith and Hubert. Want to Keep Up With B-13 Peer Review ? LIKE Us On Facebook! What she did know was that there was an emotional void left after Hubert’s departure. “It felt like a divorce,” Ali said. “It felt like we had to get to know our new mom. Williams’ line of questioning did not sit well with Hubert and she took to Facebook to say as much:

B Slade's (Tonex) Interview with essence magazine

Image
Seen Tonex lately? You’ll have more luck finding him as B Slade, waving a  rainbow striped flag at a Gay Pride parade than testifying in church circles. Taken from Essence.com Crossing over in more ways than one, the entertainer has dead  bolted his life as a  minister  and re-emerged as a recording activist with “Diesel,” his first  pop/soul release (which he says is inspired by the “hoodspah” that enabled strong Black men to do what they like). Tonex  was to  Gospel music , what Lady Gaga is to pop — an ingeniously talented,  flamboyant provocateur. In 2009 he confirmed suspicions about his sexually  ambiguous image, coming out on a nationally aired TV show.  In so doing  perhaps he became the first well-known openly gay gospel artist and like Gaga  believes homosexuals are “born this way.” ESSENCE.com talks to the  artist about his more-than-unconventional stance on sexuality and how this newly  embraced freedom has influenced his new persona: ESSENCE.com: Is  your gos

Ex-wife of Tonex: gay marriage part of satan’s agenda

Image
Very interesting article written by  Yvette (Graham) Williams  (pictured at left with Tonex in 2002), the former Mrs. Tonex. Yvette was divorced from Tonex in 2005 and has since focused on recovering and speaking out against divorce. This is an excerpt from a larger article entitled  “Satan’s agenda exposed.”    Although the article uses strong language to rebuke divorce among God’s people, Williams highlights the proliferation of homosexual marriage as an example of what we can expect as continue to lower the standards and disobey God’s Word.  It is reflects the same syllogism of Romans 1. The piece was written in late 2007, but is very insightful and sound, especially in light of her former husband’s now  growing embrace of homosexuality  and the gay christian movement. B-13 Peer Review   Where you hear it first! We know you have already heard this story but we have an  update on the following post. We are hoping that this would  spark a discussion below. Satan’
