Despite rumors to the contrary, Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff are still close friends. After not having recorded an album together since 1993, the pair have reunited in the studio to lay down new material and remake their classic joints. Meant for a DJ Jazzy Jeff and Mick Boogie mixtape, Smith rerecorded his verse from “Summertime” over a smoothed out beat. He was only 19 years old. The Atlanta Constitution-Journal reports Atlanta police identified Phat, birth name Melvin Vernell III, last night. Officers are said to be looking for “two black males … seen running from the location at the time of the shooting.” A motive for the senseless killing is still unknown. BAD, BAD news for Mary J. Blige (and YES this is even worse than the chicken wrap commercial). Winners of Mary’s college scholarship fund were promised a four year scholarship to the college or university of their choice. The scholarship fund have not paid the students’ fees and tuition and now 24 students are in danger of being kicked out of school. One student, from Ghana, is on the Dean’s list for nursing and may have to drop out. Mary told the press that she hired to wrong people to oversee the scholarship funds. If things are not rectified soon, this college fund will be a chicken wrap ! What a shame!
