The woman then slapped him, and she and her friend got up to leave, and Mack allegedly punched the woman, breaking her jaw. Pusha T & Kendrick Lamar Reminisce On “Nosetalgia”: Listen

Image
Pusha T has dropped yet another foreboding track from what appears to be the very bleak  My Name Is My Name (out October 8). On “Nosetalgia,” King Push and King  Kendrick Lamar   both weave tales about coming of age in the drug game, and it is gripping stuff. The  Nottz beat is economic and tight, wisely letting the narratives speak for themselves. That’s not to underplay the beat, which is another master class in spare chilliness from MNIMN . The percussion mirrors the rhythmic pattern Kanye West and Don Cannon built in “Numbers On The Boards,” but this song adds some scratches and a piercing guitar riff to break through the cold. Hear it below.

King The Kid Spoof Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” Video, Deliver A Surprisingly Great Cover

Hats off to King The Kid . The relatively unknown trio from Oregon became an overnight YouTube sensation when their spoof of Miley Cyrus ‘ “Wrecking Ball” video went viral. And for good reason. Their clip is hilarious — the long-haired dude with the hammer kills me — and extremely well-executed. But that’s not the most impressive thing. The band actually does a really good job of transforming Miley’s power ballad into a perky pop/rock song. Hopefully “Wrecking Ball” opens doors for King The Kid. Watch their mildly NSFW-video up top. Do you like the band’s cover and video? Let us know in the comments below.

Jessie J Covers Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble”: Hear Her Acoustic Take

Image
Jessie J visited BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge today (September 19) to promote the upcoming release of Alive   (out… soon-ish ?), and the British star performed an unplugged cover of Taylor Swift ‘s “I Knew You Were Trouble.” The “Wild” singer’s acoustic version stretched it out and slowed it down, and without the wubby crescendos the pop gem transformed into a soulful torch song. Hear the passionate rendition below.

Nelly & 2 Chainz Go Real Trap: Hear “100K”

Image
In the lead up to Nelly’s forthcoming seventh studio album  M.O.,  we’ve gotten two singles with wildly different sounds. First, there was the ridiculous bubblegum pop of “Hey Porsche”  which ended up sounding like the half-baked studio remnants of that “Cruise” remix he jumped on with  Georgia Florida Line.  Then, we got the percussive, spartan,  Pharrell- produced “Get Like Me”  with Nicki Minaj that condensed everything The Neptunes have ever done into three and a half minutes (which isn’t necessarily a good thing). Now, we get another taste with the  2 Chainz trap anthem ”1ooK,” which ends up being the best of the bunch by a wide margin. The beat is simple but monolithic, with church bells chiming amidst cut-up vocals of exalting choirs — who appear to be in mid- breath of a stirring rendition of “O Fortuna”  — while steely hi-hats clap around them. Meanwhile, Nelly turns his flow inside out, slurring weird syllables of depraved couplets and sounding nearly unrecognizable

Katy Perry’s “Roar” Gets A Monster Jump Smokers Remix: Listen

Image
Here’s the bonkers club remix of  Katy Perry ‘s chart-demolishing single “Roar” that you’ve been craving: Enter Chicago DJs  Jump Smokers,  generally consistent purveyors of danceable house tracks for the last several years, who have put their signature spin on the inspirational radio tune. Unsurprisingly, it pushes all the right buttons. Their remix starts out with big strings (fooled ya!), but then a pummeling beat transforms it into the colossal club banger you’d expect — sped-up vocals, throbbing pulse and all, building with military drums to a euphoric finish. Prepare to jump around in the clurb for awhile to this one. Fans who found the production on the original a little tepid will find more to like here. Listen below. Katy Perry — “Roar” (Jump Smokers Remix) Katy Perry went all-in on the jungle cat theme for her “Roar” video, which premiered today (September 5). The playful, campy clip — presented  in “Junglescope”  — finds the star the stunned survivor of a

Enrique Iglesias Drops The Bass On “Heart Attack”: Hear The Dubstep-Infused Track

Image
Miami-based lothario Enrique  Iglesias  managed a pretty stunning career renaissance in 2010 when he embraced stadium-sized house music for his ninth studio album  Euphoria.  And after that album sold four million copies worldwide and spawned one absolutely ubiquitous  radio-dominating hit, I think it’s safe to say that he won’t be changing his songwriting formula anytime soon. For his currently untitled forthcoming 10th studio album (expected out later this year), Iglesias already dropped the sexy club thumper “Turn the Night Up” , and now he returns with “Heart Attack,” a track that marries his seductive Latin pop sensibilities with the bass blaring weirdness of dub step. Hear the song below.

On '12 Years A Slave,' Awards Screeners & Oscar Narratives: For Your Consideration

Image
Here's how things work during Oscar season: Vulture movies editor Kyle Buchanan has already awarded "12 Years A Slave" this year's Best Picture trophy. Grantland awards expert Mark Harris and TheWrap awards expert Steve Pond threw cold water on that notion -- all while noting that Buchanan might end up being right. All this, and "12 Years A Slave" doesn't arrive in proper movie theaters for another four weeks. There are valid reasons for and against "12 Years A Slave" winning Best Picture, none of which have to do with the success of "12 Years A Slave." (Steve McQueen's film is, at its very worst, a very good movie; it's impossible to imagine anyone giving it a poor review.) As CinemaBlend's Katey Rich wrote on Friday , Oscar season is about the narrative. "Argo" won Best Picture not necessarily because it was a better film than "Zero Dark Thirty," "Lincoln" or "Silver Linings Pla

VENNI VETTI VECCI! 16 Things We Should #NeverForget About Ja Rule (LIST)

Image
HOLLA HOLLA! Ja Rule is back in full effect. Earlier this week, Ja Rule released a new track titled “Fresh Out Da Pen,” and he’s right, the Murder, Inc. rapper is literally fresh out of prison. Ja Rule and his right hand man Irv Gotti stopped by Hot 97′s Angie Martinez Show to talk about returning to music, life in prison, the reign of Murder, Inc. and how 50 Cent and the Feds destroyed his career. It is #FlashbackFriday, so GlobalGrind decided to remind the masses of things we should #neverforget about Ja Rule. Do you remember where you were the first time you heard “Between Me & You?” Or what about Ja Rule yelling “holla holla” and “it’s murdaaa” at any given moment? Pop Perspective: Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” Video Reviewed By All Four Idolator Editors

Image
At Idolator , the editors share a passion for high quality pop. Occasionally, our tastes align completely. Other times, not so much! So, in the spirit of debate, we’ve developed a feature called Pop Perspective . Basically, all four of us dissect a particularly noteworthy pop event, and give it a rating out of 10. That way you’re getting a full spectrum of views and we can all vent. (It’s cheaper than therapy!) The latest pop milestone to be dragged under the Idolator microscope is Miley Cyrus ‘ VEVO-conquering “Wrecking Ball” video. Is it a brave feminist statement or another silly shock tactic from the girl formerly known as Hannah Montana? Head below to see what we all have to say! Robbie Daw — 2/10 See that sledgehammer in the video there? That’s what Miley & Co. used to bash any semblance of subtlety here. Imagine if Ms. Cyrus had only shown her boobs and ass one time while swinging around with a giant metal chain between her thighs — like, just a q
