Frankie Lymon was born in  Harlem  to a truck driver father and a mother who worked as a maid. Lymon's father, Howard Lymon, also sang in a gospel group known as the Harlemaires; Frankie Lymon and his brothers Lewis and Howie sang with the Harlemaire Juniors (a fourth Lymon brother, Timmy, was a singer, though not with the Harlemaire Juniors). The Lymon family struggled to make ends meet, and Lymon began working as a grocery boy at age ten, augmenting his legitimate income with proceeds gained from hustling prostitutes and was known for having relationships with women twice his age. At the age of 12, Lymon heard a local  doo-wop  group known as the Coupe De Villes at a school talent show. He befriended their lead singer,  Herman Santiago , and he eventually became a member of the group, now calling itself both The Ermines and The Premiers. Dennis Jackson of  Columbus ,  Georgia , was one of the main influences in Lymon's life. His personal donation of $500 helped start

Game Saves Bicyclist After Serious Crash

Sep 7, 2012 By   Jonathan Hailey, Assistant Editor Compton rapper  Game  not be able to save his relationship with  Tiffney Cambridge , but he did help a man who had been in a serious bicycle accident earlier this week. According to multiple reports, Game was leaving a recording studio early Wednesday morning and noticed a man lying on the ground with a bike on top of him. The “My Life” rhymer parked his car to check on the guy. Game found the man lying face down and unresponsive to any of his inquiries if he was doing okay. Game swung into action and called 911. Game sat with the injured bicyclist until an emergency medical team arrived and transported to a local Los Angeles hospital. The Game- Life After The Math

MC Lyte’s Foundation Offering $100k Hip-Hop Scholarship To One Student

( B-13 Peer Review News)  Rap star MC Lyte and her charity Hip Hop Sisters Foundation recently announced a new $100,000 Hip-Hop scholarship that will be offered to one student to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The advisory board of Hip Hop Sisters, which includes Russell Simmons, President Lynn Richardson, Melanie Fiona, Salt, will be on hand to announce the “First Wave” scholarship tomorrow (September 6) from Rush Communications, Simmons’ New York headquarters. The Hip Hop Sisters board will be joined by UW-Madison’s VP and Chief Diversity Officer, Damon Williams during the press conference at Simmons’ office. “For years I’ve dreamed of having the ability to help our community and now finally the day has arrived,” MC Lyte told AllHipHop.com. “HHSF is about changing lives and truly encouraging several generations that have been and are influenced by Hip-Hop culture. No Malice of The Clipse Signs Distribution Deal, Readies New EP

The San Francisco company, which was behind the distribution of Kendrick Lamar’s  Section 08  and Schoolboy Q’s Setbacks,  will distribute No Malice’s  Hear Ye Him  EP to stores next month. The lead single,  June,  was released last month on KarmaloopTV. Bun B is slated to appear on a song, according to Nima Etminan, the marketing manager of Empire Distribution. No Malice’s currently untitled full length album will hit stores at either the end of this year or the beginning of next year, and is said to feature production from Pharrell, Bangladesh, S-1, Rico Love, and more. It's that time of year again, when Forbes reveals the coveted Hip-Hop Cash Kings list.  LIST: The Forbes Five: Hip Hop's Wealthiest Artists Over the past few years, the Cash Kings list has been a back and forth battle between  Jay-Z  and  Diddy,  but this year,  Dr. Dre  tops the list as Forbes' ultimate Cash King.  Although Dr. Dre hasn't released an album in over a decade, Dr. Dre's Beats by Dre headphones have landed him in the number one spot.  This year's Cash Kings list is comprised of the usual money makers. Diddy, Grandmaster Flash, LL Cool J, Russell Simmons Among Mourners in NYC B-13 Peer Review  Presents: Violating The Game: Chris Lighty Part 1 Associated Press NEW YORK —  The family of late hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty has asked for a second autopsy after a medical examiner ruled his death in New York last week a suicide. Forensic pathologist Michael Baden said Wednesday that he performed the second autopsy at the family's request. He says he's awaiting test results. Baden is paid to give independent opinions on deaths. He has testified in several high-profile cases including the O.J. Simpson trial. Lighty was found dead in his Bronx apartment with a gunshot wound to the head. The medical examiner ruled it a suicide. But his brother Dave Lighty has indicated that he isn't sure his brother took his own life. Hip-hop stars including LL Cool J, 50 Cent and Sean "Diddy" Combs attended Lighty's funeral in Manhattan on Wednesday.
