Common Biography: Life and Career of the Rapper and Actor Common  was born Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr. on March 13, 1972 in Chicago's South Side. He was one of those kids whose parents got divorced while they were young His educator father left the family when he was six years old, leaving his counselor mother to take care of him. However, his father was still very much a big part of his life.  His mother would later remarry and teenage Common showed talents in both basketball and rap. His father found him a job as ball boy for the Chicago Bulls. His rap career, meanwhile, started in his cousin's home in Cincinnati and continued in high school when he formed a trio called C.D.R. Fan favorite  Marcus Canty  was eliminated from the hit Fox talent competition Thursday night, and  RadarOnline.com  has the clip of his emotional exit. Rockie Fresh took a moment to speak with AllHipHop.com during his tour stop in Miami recently about his new deal with MMG, and how much hospitality even the parent label, Warner Bros., has shown. “Signing with Ross was crazy; it was a blessing,” Rockie Fresh told AllHipHop.com. “We’re going to make history. It’s a major platform having that major label support from Warner and Maybach Music Group. They’ve been holding me down even in the really early stages. It’s better resources; I can finally build my sound quality.
