B-13 Peer Review Flashback: The Sequence

The first & pioneer of all female hip-hop Groups   Hailing straight from Columbia, SC “The Sequence” first all-girl hip hop female group childhood friends—Cheryl Cook (Cheryl the Pearl), Gwendolyn (Blondy) Chisolm and Angie Brown Stone (Angie B)— who were high school cheerleaders. The Sequence asked Sylvia Robinson, CEO of the noted Sugar Hill Records Label for a chance to audition backstage at a Sugar Hill Gang concert held right in their city at Township Auditorium 1979 where they performed original written song in high-school “Funk You Up”.   The Sequence, were discovered immediately by Sylvia Robinson, she took them under her wings making the most of opportunity for childhood friends to become stars.
