NEW SHAKESPEARE COMPANY SEEKING SUBMISSIONS

THE SUBVERSIVE SHAKESPEARE COMPANY is seeking submissions from San Diego-area actors and actresses to form the core acting ensemble of a theatre company dedicated to intense, intimate, provocative, small-cast adaptations of Shakespeare’s plays.


We seek submissions from unconventional, fearless, physically fit actors and actresses ages 20-35. Shakespeare acting experience is not required. Nudity is required for some roles. Dance background is preferred for some roles. All ethnicities are invited to submit.


Plays being considered for production are MACBETH, HAMLET, RICHARD 3, MEASURE FOR MEASURE, AS YOU LIKE IT, and THE TAMING OF THE SHREW. Plays will be performed by a cast of 4-8, acting multiple roles. All major roles will be assigned from within the core acting company.


Rehearsals will begin when an acting company is formed. Long-term commitment is expected. You’re not submitting for a single role in a single play, but for multiple roles in multiple plays, as part of an on-going ensemble acting company. Please note that your availability and scheduling flexibility during rehearsal and performance periods will be an important consideration in casting.
