Harry Potter spin-off “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” Open Auditions Coming Up

Warner Bros. has a a Harry Potter spin-off in the works… “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find


One of the main roles in the film is up for grabs and kids in the UK have a chance at starring in the film. The Warner Bros movie will be in production soon and has announced an open casting call for the principal role of Modesty, a girl 8 to 12 years old. Auditions will take place in London this weekend.


Warner Bros Pictures announced last year that “Fantastic Beasts” will be a trilogy with the 1st film hitting theaters in late 2016. Fantastic Beasts  is based on a set of companion books to British author J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.  J. K. Rowling  wrote the book under the pseudonym of Newt Scamander.   According to BBC, Rowling will make her screen writing debut on this project.  David Heyman, who produced the Harry Potter films, will be returning as producer for Fantastic Beasts.


Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” takes place decades before Harry Potter and according to J.K. Rowling starts in 1920. In the Harry Potter films, Harry had a copy of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find“,   a book written by Newton Scamander and required reading at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.  The fictitious author is also a Hogwarts Alum. After graduating from Hogwarts, Newton Scamander joined the Ministry of Magic in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Scamander traveled the world looking for magical creatures, finally publishing his book about them.


Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them Auditions announced


While “Fantastic Beasts” does take place before the Harry Potter series, it will not be a prequel. It will tell the story of Newton Scamander and his adventures. According to IMDB , the movie is about…. The adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them open casting call information:

UK residents who wish to audition for a main role in the Harry Potter Universe film may attend the open casting call for their shot at stardom.


Warner Bros. Pictures released the following casting notice on their UK site - Warner Bros Pictures and the makers of the Harry Potter films are casting a role in their new film ‘Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them’.
We are looking for a girl between the ages of 8- 12 yrs for the role of ‘Modesty’.
‘Modesty’ is a haunted young girl with an inner strength and stillness. She has an ability to see deep into people and understand them.
If you would like to apply to be considered for this role and you fit the criteria below, please come along to make an application and to meet a member of the Casting Team and have a photo taken.

 Application process will begin at 10:00am.


There are no facilities for overnight queuing and camping is strictly prohibited.


Please? wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather on the day. Even if sunny it may be advisable to bring a sweater for air conditioned areas.


Application Criteria/ Restrictions.
- All girls between the ages of 8-12yrs may apply.
- All applicants must be available for the shooting dates between August 2015 – January 2016.
- All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK
- All applicants must be accompanied by one parent or legal guardian over the age of 18 yrs.
- Additional guests cannot be admitted into the venue.
- Unaccompanied minors will not be permitted to make an application.
- Travel expenses will not be reimbursed.
