Writer’s Guild files complaint against Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry In Legal Trouble With Writers

LOS ANGELES (AP) The Writers Guild of America, West, has filed unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board against Tyler Perry’s sitcom, “House of Payne.”

The WGA accuses the show of unlawfully firing four writers in retaliation for their union activity. The charge also alleges that Perry’s company has bargained in bad faith with the Guild.

A lawyer for Tyler Perry tells the Hollywood Reporter that the four writers were fired because of poor work performance. The WGA says, together, the four had worked on more than 100 episodes of “House of Payne.”

They and others are expected to picket the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios tomorrow (Saturday) in Atlanta.
