Ten former "American Idol" contestants suing show




A group of ten former "American Idol" contestants have filed a joint lawsuit against the show.  The contestants - all African Americans - are claiming the show eliminated them based on race and used their arrest histories to humiliate them on national television. 

According to "TMZ," they're suing on the grounds of discrimination and want the show to adopt a new anti-racism policy.  When the group first announced their plans take legal action back in January, the show's then-producer Nigel Lythgoe called the claims "ridiculous," insisting the Fox talent competition treats all of its contestants equally.

Among the contestants suing is Corey Clark, the season two hopeful who famously went public about his alleged affair with judge Paula Abdul. 
The contestants' lawyer is arguing that "Idol" made the ten singers seem like "violent criminals, liars and sexual deviants."  They're reportedly asking for 25-million dollars each, in damages.
