Southern rap legend Bun B, of UGK, announced this weekend that the mother of his legendary rhyming partner passed away.  Chad “Pimp C” Butler‘s mother, Mama Wes’ death comes six years after her son and the hip-hop sends its condolences.  Bun B relayed the message through his Instagram and Twitter accounts.

“Thanks to everyone that has sent prayers and condolences. She was a great woman. Nurture us from boys to men and made us strong enough to handle this industry. She was the one that kept us going when we didn’t wanna go anymore. She was the backbone of UGK, the definition of loyalty, the personification of unconditional love and the essence of what being Trill really meant. She’s finally reunited with her son. God bless you both. RIP Mama Wes. You gave everything to make us Underground Kings.Following” (Bun B’s Instagram)

“It’s all on me now. But they built me for this. So I got it. #RIPPimpC #RIPMommaWes #UGK4Life #PATrill,” Bun tweeted August 18. (Bun B’s Twitter)

There is a lot to be said about the love between a mother and her son.  The journey UGK travelled to become Trill was fueled by their loved ones and ignited by fans who appreciated their music and followed their journey.  May Mama Wes and Pimp C rest in paradise.
