Extras needed in Alabama for a new WWII drama directed by Mario Van Peebles.

“USS INDIANAPOLIS: MEN OF COURAGE” is about to begin production in the Mobile area and is looking to cast lots of extras. Residents of the area interested in getting small roles in the film may email their photos and contact information to the movie’s casting directors.

“USS INDIANAPOLIS: MEN OF COURAGE” will star Nicolas Cage as Captain Charles Butler McVay of the USS Indianapolis. The ill-fated ship was torpedoed in the South Pacific in July 1945, during WWII. The ship was tasked with a top secret mission, delivering parts to Guam for the first atomic bomb. The ship sank killing over two thirds of the crew. There were 1,196 men on board the ship. 100′s were trapped and went down with the ship leaving the survivors fighting for their lives in the shark infested waters as they waited for help to arrive for 5 days. During the 5 days in the water, the men, who were thirsty, hungry and tired, were repeatedly attacked by sharks. Of the 1196 men, only 317 survived and Captain McVay found himself being court-martialed. 5 decades later, McVay was finally exonerated.

USS INDIANAPOLIS: MEN OF COURAGE, tells the remarkable true story of survival. Filled with tense action and brave heroes, it is the ultimate untold story of WWII.

According to a story about the film in Variety, producers are constructing a 500,000 gallon water tank to be used for underwater scenes. There will also be animatronic sharks in the production… probably in that water tank. The film will be in production this summer and is scheduled for a May 2016 release.

Casting directors in Mobile Alabama, Goleman Casting are accepting submissions.
